Power Platform & custom apps

The systems that don't come off a shelf.

When the process is the product

Some work fits a standard system. Some doesn't because the process is what makes the business distinctive, and bending it to fit a template destroys the thing you're good at.

That's what we build. Model-driven applications on Dataverse, Power Pages portals, automation, and where the user experience needs to be entirely your own, custom .NET front ends reading and writing Dataverse directly.

What we work with

Model-driven apps
Complex data models, business process flows, business rules, and security modelling that holds up as the organisation grows.
Canvas apps
Task-focused applications for mobile and field use.
Power Pages
External-facing portals, anonymous and authenticated.
Custom .NET front ends
ASP.NET Core applications over Dataverse, for when you need a bespoke experience rather than a Microsoft-shaped one. We run one in production ourselves.
Power Automate
Approvals, integrations and scheduled processing.
PCF controls
Custom components where the standard set doesn't fit.
Legacy modernisation
Excel, VBA and Access applications rebuilt on Dataverse. Complex calculation logic preserved, the macro-security and version-control problems left behind. We have replaced a twenty-year Excel and VBA estate this way.
ALM
Solution management, environment strategy, deployment pipelines.

The number nobody puts in the proposal

Most builds are quoted on development cost. Across five years, licensing is usually the larger number and it's set by architecture decisions taken in the first fortnight.

On a production engagement, roughly 100 external users, our client's own customers and their managing contractors access a Dataverse solution. We architected the app boundaries, security roles and feature usage so those users run on per-app licensing rather than premium, reserving premium seats for internal staff. That's what made the client's commercial model viable.

We model licensing alongside the solution, because discovering it afterwards is expensive and very hard to reverse.

How the licensing was structured Around 100 external clients and contractors run on per-app licensing, shown as a grid of 100 outlined circles. Four internal users run on premium licensing, shown as four filled circles. Both groups access the same Dataverse solution. 100+ external users MDA’s own clients and managing contractors Per-app licence One app each. Guest identities in the client’s Entra tenant. 4 internal users Staff and administrators Premium licence Full platform, all connectors, administration One Dataverse solution Data isolated between competing contracting parties The licence a user needs is decided by app boundaries, security roles and which features they touch so we design those together, not one after the other.
Both groups use the same solution. What separates them is the app boundary and security model, which is what determines the licence each user actually requires.

Tell us what doesn't fit

The useful first conversation is about the part of your process that no product handles properly. That's usually where the value is.
